Dr. Carrie Waterman
Dr. Carrie Waterman is an interdisciplinary research scientist at the intersection of nutrition, agriculture, health, and sustainable development. She received her PhD in Pharmacognosy and spent the following years as a post doc in understanding the use of plants for human health. She was a Fulbright scholar and professor at the University of Nairobi, Kenya and served as a Peace Corps volunteer in West Africa. She is currently funded on a NIH Fogarty International K01 grant as a Professional Researcher in Nutrition at UC Davis and a Visiting Scientist at the World Agroforestry Centre Nairobi, Kenya. Her work involves using the moringa plant as a tool to address African global challenges including food security, improved nutrition, preventative healthcare, environmental integrity, economic opportunities, and innovative solutions. She is a scientific consultant for moringa companies and holds a patent on moringa processing to harness bioactive compounds.
Dr. Suzanna Attia
Dr. Suzanna Attia is a Pediatric Gastroenterologist at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY, USA with a focus on the prevention of childhood malnutrition. She is delighted to help advise Pamoja CBO on strategies to improve their impact on the health and nutrition of the children and mothers they serve.
