The Remba Island Safe Water Project was a short-term immediate solution for the urgent health needs on the island. To build on this project, Pamoja CBO has begun working with the MOH, Rotary International, and the Water and Sanitation Rotary Action Group, to develop a long-term safe water solution for Remba Island. This phase takes the “Future Visions” approach and included activities that address sanitation, and improvement to health and education infrastructure on the island. The planning stage took place in 2010. The implementation is on second phase and is scheduled to end in December 2018. We are allocating approximately 10% of our time towards activity planning in 2010.
This activity furthers our exempt purposes by turning the short-term water project into a holistic long-term community development program.
Funding for the implementation of this project is from Rotary International, Park Cities Rotary Club, Rotary Club of Olympia, Rotary Club of Lacey and the Water and Sanitation Rotarian Action Group (WASRAG). Pamoja CBO human resources, travel expenses, communication expenses, and meeting logistics was partially funded by private donations through the Texas entity.
