Partnership with the Kenyan Ministry of Health, Rotary International and other private donors, Pamoja has helped established a clean water filtration system on Remba Island, which currently serves over 2000 people with clean water every day. In addition, the organization has facilitated construction of over 29 eco-san latrines, making the Island an open defecation free zone for the first time. Started in 2010, the REMBA water project was first hosted by the Rotary Club of Nakuru, The Great Rift Valley, with support from the Rotary Club of Olympia, USA. In the second phase, Mbita-Mfangano Rotary Club became the Host Club, supported by the Rotary Club of Lacey, USA. Almost four years after completion, we are in the process of transferring the management of this project to the community.
